Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information WasteMagic collects, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
Account information: When you register, we collect your email address, username, and optionally your full name and profile photo. Usage data: We collect information about how you interact with WasteMagic, including pages visited, items viewed, and searches performed. Item content: Photos and descriptions you upload when listing items. Messages: The content of messages exchanged between users through our platform.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: provide and improve our platform services; match buyers with sellers and facilitate transactions; send important account notifications and service updates; personalize your experience and surface relevant items; analyze platform usage to improve features; comply with legal obligations.
3. Third-Party Services
WasteMagic uses the following third-party services: Supabase (database and authentication infrastructure, hosted in the EU); Google OAuth (optional sign-in method — we receive only your name, email, and profile picture); OpenRouter/OpenAI (for AI image analysis — only item photos are sent, no personal data); Vercel (hosting). Each provider has their own privacy policy and data processing terms.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure in the European Union. We use row-level security policies to ensure users can only access data they are authorized to see. We implement industry-standard security measures, but no system is 100% secure. Please use a strong, unique password for your WasteMagic account.
5. Cookies
WasteMagic uses minimal cookies, primarily for authentication session management (keeping you logged in). We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. You can disable cookies in your browser, but this may prevent you from using core platform features.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to: access a copy of your personal data; correct inaccurate information; request deletion of your account and associated data; export your data in a machine-readable format; withdraw consent for any optional data processing. 7. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Deleted accounts are purged from our systems within 30 days. Item listings may be archived for fraud prevention purposes for up to 12 months after deletion. Messages are deleted immediately upon account deletion.
8. Children's Privacy
WasteMagic is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at privacy@wastemagic.com and we will delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent changes were made. Continued use of WasteMagic after changes means you accept the updated policy.
